Semester 1 Reflection, Reflection

In second semester I am going to try to make my images more creative and unique. I’m going to use my time more wisely and create better ideas.  The grade I feel I should be given is a B. I feel that I have reached my goal of creating more creative projects but I feel like I could do more. For example, for the narrative photography project I decided to have my mom put on some of my step dads shoes to make it seem like she was a man and I went under the bed to take the pictures so it would be like someone hiding under the bed from an intruder. Although I feel like I made this project creative, for my forced perspective project I took a picture of shoes and turned it upside down, unfortunately I was not the only person who thought of doing this so it was not as creative. In my reflection I also said that I was going to use my time more wisely, I feel that I have used most of my time editing my pictures when I should really be more focused on spending time taking good photos.

Dear Past Self

Dear Alyssa,                  Hey past self! I'm you but from the future! This year you're going to have so much fun in creative photography this year. I'm here to tell you a few things you need to know to be successful in this class. First, NEVER procrastinate, its always good to turn your work in on time in this class. Also, always listen to Mr.Klein when he is explaining a new project. When thinking of new ideas don't use your first idea because chances are someone is going to have the same idea you have. Try and make sure you really try your best with your projects because some things that you think might not turn out good can turn out to be really beautiful.                  My best project is the one below. It was my semester one final. I believe that it fulfilled the assignment because I made the rose and butterflies out of paper and it wasn't a completely photoshopped picture.

Tax Dollars Response

"Tax dollars should not be wasted on art, music or theater classes in high school. Public high schools should be about training young people to enter the workforce. Period." Tax dollars should be used to give students the education they want and need. With that being said, tax dollars should be used on art, music, and theatre but it should also be used on teaching students how to enter the workforce. Teachers teach students how to balance a chemical equation and find each angle in a triangle but they don't teach kids how to make a resume, fill out an application, or do taxes. Although students need to learn how to enter the workforce they still need to do something they love, so putting money into art, music and theatre isn't a bad thing. Students need to be able to do something they lie in school otherwise they will get bored and not want to do anything.

What Art? Questions

1) Describe the mood of the image(s)  What is the expression on the faces of the models?  What is their posture? The mood of the images is stressed. The models have a neutral face that makes it look like they are thinking about something. 2) Think about technique.  How do you imagine these images were created? Oil paint? Photoshop? I imagine these pictures were created by oil paint because of the textures. 3) Ask yourself what role color plays in the images(?)  Does it accentuate the mood? The role that the color plays is it accentuates the mood. It brings the picture to life. 4) Finally, what do you think the artist intended to convey with these images?  What response was he/she attempting to evoke?  Do you think the effort was successful? I think the artist intended to convey emotions with the way she painted the women, and the whole picture. I think she was successful with the way she painted.
